Corporate Social Responsibility

Our CSR programme has 3 main strands

Environmental

Throughout these challenging financial times, environmental issues remain at the forefront of our minds. We’re doing everything we can to limit the impact our business is having on the environment. Even to the point of asking our clients “Does this event really need to happen?” Strange you might think - but this kind of thinking has led to the development of our video on demand service and some market leading ideas that represent the future of conferencing as we know it.

We could sit and talk all day about green issues but suffice to say, we’re BS8901 Sustainable Event Management compliant. We’re CAESER certified and we offset our business carbon emissions with ClimateCare. In our offices every bottle, can and scrap of paper is recycled and we constantly review how we travel to and from work. By promoting public transport, car sharing, cycling and walking to work, together we’re making progress when it comes to making our way here.

Community

Glasgows have been proactively involved with our local community for almost as long as we’ve been in existence.

We’ve worked with Leeds Metropolitan University, the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) and many local schools and colleges to offer work placements and internships. So successful have these partnerships been that the company has talent spotted several members of our current events team. In addition to supporting individual students, we have over several years provided UCLAN with members of our own Projects team to guest lecture on their Event Management degree course. In 2008 and 2009 we also sponsored the university’s Excellence in Event Management Award.

The company has also provided technical assistance and equipment for the Rotary Club of Preston Guild in support of its fund raising activities for local and international charities. Glasgows production team are currently working with the Rotary Club to help local charity SPACE purchase and install specialist projection equipment to enhance the multi-sensory environment for people with physical, learning and/or emotional difficulties.

Our team also regularly fundraise for those less fortunate and take part in all manner of tortuous tasks. We really are a bunch of carers and sharers!

Workplace

We do everything we can to ensure that Glasgows is a great place to work. We’ve held the Investors In People accreditation since 2004, CHAS (Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) since 2007. We’re committed to a policy of diversity and inclusion as a varied set of experiences and perspectives leads to a greater diversity of ideas. We encourage each other to be ourselves and to embrace those things that make us unique. Life in the events industry isn’t 9-5 and we appreciate the flexibility our staff offer and we try to reciprocate. We encourage a good work life balance and it’s paying off - between them our 34 staff have 25 children.
