FOSS 2009

better services for citizens: partnership working at the front line

Our vision is of revitalised local authorities, working with their partners, to reshape public services around the citizens and communities that use them.

Strong and Prosperous Communities, The Local Government White Paper 2006

FOSS 2009 was a must attend event for senior public sector executives involved in service transformation and their partner organisations that continues to deliver that vision, through innovation and next practice in transforming services at the front line.

Latest News: FOSS 2009 Research Report Announced

The third FOSS report draws on the Local Government Delivery Council’s continuing research into front office shared services. The report is complimented with a series of ten detailed case studies, allied to analysis that addresses how to configure a business case for a FOSS initiative. The report findings together with the case studies were presented and discussed at the FOSS 2009 conference. Please click here to view the report.

Three years on and transformation of local public services continues to progress at an ever-increasing pace. The national and regional level policies and frameworks are in place to promote and facilitate local action, including Local Area Agreements (LAAs) and the Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnerships (RIEPs). Councils and their partners are embarking on a journey to dramatically change how they design and deliver local public services through engaging their communities.

The programme is distinct from other shared service agendas in that its focus is on joined up delivery at the point where citizens really feel the impact – the key factor in achieving better integrated services at the sharp end.
