Dear colleague,
As part of the implementation of the LSC strategy Learning for Living and Work for individuals with learning difficulties and/or disabilities (LDD) the Learning for Living and Work Assessment Framework is being introduced and the LSC is providing training in the autumn for those people who will be involved in its completion. The assessment framework will be used as the mechanism for gathering information about young people's aspirations, strengths and support needs to identify options and the support needed to help them achieve their goals. It will apply to young people wishing to take up places with further education providers, including Work Based Learning providers from September 2009.
We are now pleased to be able to provide information about the training, which will take place on a regional basis in September and early October and to invite nominations through the link at www.glasgows.co.uk/lflw
The training will be essential for those people directly engaged in supporting young people with LDD in transition to adulthood, as they are likely to have a role in completing the framework. It is also relevant to their managers, as it is important they are aware of the structures required to support the processes. The assessment framework will link closely with a new Resource Allocation System, which will identify an Individual Learning Support Fund for learners whose support needs are expected to cost more than £5,500 and will be the mechanism for accessing funds to support the learner in education. Further training on this element will be offered to those professionals who will be involved in this process and information about this will be available shortly.
In particular the training will be relevant to:
