Glasgows was commissioned by the Office of Science and Technology at the Department of Trade and Industry to undertake the management and delivery of high level conference to mark the start of the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). FP7 is the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research, Technological Development & Demonstration. It is designed to promote the competitiveness of industry and improve the quality of life in Europe through funding collaborative research projects that forge links between countries, and between industry and academia.

The launch event attracted over 500 delegates and speakers included Malcolm Wicks MP, Minister of State for Science and Innovation, Andrey Fursenko, the Russian Science and Education Minister and Janez Potocnik, the European Commissioner for Science and Research.

The conference took place in London and consisted of the following:

• Total event management of a one-day event
• 500 delegates including senior officials
• Management of delegate registration and bookings
• Development of an event website including on-line registration
• Design and production of invitations, letterheads, badges and delegate booklets
• Stage choreography and show schedule
• Speaker liaison and slide production including high profile presentations from UK and European Ministers
• Full production and audio-visual management including camera relay
• Design and production of stage set and graphics
• Venue, catering and exhibition management including a networking lunch and an exhibition area featuring NCP banner stands designed and produced by Glasgows
• Press handling, including an interview European Commissioner for Science and Research, which resulted in a large amount of press coverage on the BBC and in national newspapers
• Management of bi-lateral meetings between the Ministers and Commissioner
• Personal car service for VIPs
• Edited film recording of proceedings and post-event video streaming through event website
