Tim Franks

Tim Franks is CEO of PACE, London’s leading charity promoting the mental health and emotional wellbeing of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. After a first degree in English Literature and Linguistics Tim trained as a Lawyer with special interests in Employment, Immigration and Welfare rights. After completing the Post Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course in 1994 he worked for, set up and managed a range of services for lesbians, gay men and bisexuals. These have included sexual health outreach in commercial and street based environments, groupwork, a family therapy service and youth counselling service. He founded the Nottingham LGBT Forum and was a founder member of the Nottingham Pride Committee. In addition Tim has lectured in Lesbian and Gay studies courses at Nottingham Trent University including Representing AIDS a cultural studies course on the HIV epidemic and an MA course in Queer Cinema. Most recently he was based in a Greenwich Drug and Alcohol Action Team (a strategic and commissioning team) as Alcohol Strategy Coordinator.
