1. LGBT Young People: Intervention and Prevention.

This workshop will look at:

  1. Evidence
  2. Who is most vulnerable and why?
  3. How to evidence needs
  4. Pathways to A&E
  5. Moving forward

Facilitator: Jan Bridget, service manager of Gay and Lesbian Youth in Calderdale (GALYIC).

2. What does recovery mean? An LGB perspective.

This interactive workshop will explore the issues around recovery for lesbian gay and bisexual people experiencing mental distress. It will explore some of the factors that facilitate as well as hinder the journey of recovery including the impact of homophobic and biphobic discrimination. The workshop will build on some of the workshop facilitators' personal experience and recent work around recovery, particularly A Common Purpose - the joint position paper of the Royal College of Psychiatry, Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) and Care Services Improvement Partnership and the Social Perspectives Network/SCIE/Delivering Race Equality study day and publication Whose recovery is it anyway? which looked at recovery from the perspectives of people from discriminated against backgrounds including LGB communities.

3. What People Tell Us: Stonewall's Review of Discrimination in the Workplace.

Drawing on recent research from Stonewall, Serves you Right and Being the Gay One and forthcoming research into productivity in the workplace, Ruth will explore issues that affect LGB staff and how to create inclusive working environments.

4. All things being equal? Making mental health services accessible for LGBT people.

This is an interactive workshop where participants will work together to produce Ten Top Tips for making mental health services accessible for LGBT people. The workshop will showcase current good practice examples and resources as well as insights from service users about the ways that services might be improved.

Facilitator: Julie Fish, researcher at De Montfort University, Leicester in lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) health.

5. Suicide Prevention: National Strategy, Local Learning.

This seminar will discuss the National Suicide Prevention Strategy and how it has been implemented on the ground, with specific reference to its relevance to LGBT people.
