Below is a list of workshops that will be taking place at both events. All workshops to be 1 hour 15 mins and be led by local areas.
Reducing the need for exclusion and improving attendance through joint working with other services
(This workshop is aimed at practitioners who want to know more about joint working with other services to improve attendance via Behaviour & Attendance partnerships. The session will cover background on behaviour and attendance partnerships. It will include case studies for practical examples provided by a specific case study presenter. The role of National Strategies in promoting the partnership agenda will also be discussed, enhanced by a workshop lead from this organisation, plus others from TDA and DCSF.
Improving Outcomes for young people, the impact made by the Common Assessment Framework and the Lead Professional role
This workshop will showcase Shropshire County Council strategy for Targeted Youth Support based on the Common Assessment Framework and the role of the lead professional. It will explore how Shropshire implemented the multi agency strategy, how it engaged partners including schools and colleges, and share the lesson learned. It will provide participants with an opportunity to share best practise and explore how their organisation might address the needs of the most vulnerable young people.
Identifying and responding to Criminal Behaviour of Young People
This workshop will showcase the Doncaster ABC+ strategy and how it works at local level to combat anti social behaviour. It will also examine the methods Doncaster are looking to introduce to implement local delivery of universal services and Targeted services through early identification of need and how this will be delivered at a local level.
How to use schools as a base for wider family support
This workshop will examine how a whole family approach can help support young people and address problems they may face. It will look at where parenting and family support can be effective and programmes known to work. It will provide a local perspective on the implementation of Government funded programmes to improve parenting support and will provide an opportunity to explore how educational establishments have worked with others to provide a whole family response to problems and what the benefits have been.
Using extended schools including on-site health provision
This workshop will report on progress nationally of the extended schools roll-out, with an emphasis on swift and easy access to targeted and specialist services. It will also examine the benefits to schools and colleges of on-site health provision, particularly contraceptive and sexual health services and explore case study examples of innovative approaches to he provision of such services highlight the support available from TDA and DCSF nationally.
